The SFC/SNES version of Donkey Kong Country 2 was re-released on the Virtual Console for the Nintendo Wii in Europe on May 16, 2007, in North America on May 21, 2007, and in Japan on October 23, 2007. The game features are improved from Donkey Kong Country's, with better graphics, more enemies and animal buddies, harder stages and additional depth. It takes place shortly after Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong's triumph over King K. It is the sequel to the original Donkey Kong Country, and the predecessor to Donkey Kong Country 3.
